COVERAGE BEFORE CAMERA COUNT
Start with a simple floor plan and the areas that matter to your operation. The number of cameras follows from the coverage needed; adding more devices does not automatically make the footage more useful.
Identify doors, reception points, service counters, parking approaches and equipment areas that need attention. Consider where people and vehicles move, what could obstruct the view and which spaces should remain outside the scope.
Review the detail needed at each location, mounting options and changing light conditions. A broad overview and a close view of an entrance serve different purposes. Discuss indoor and outdoor conditions before choosing the camera.
Agree who can view live video, review recordings and export footage. Your organization should decide its privacy, notice and retention requirements; camera placement and access settings should reflect those decisions.
THE SYSTEM BEHIND THE PICTURE
Commercial cameras depend on the building infrastructure. Review the whole path from each camera to the recorder and authorized users rather than treating the network as an afterthought.
Power over Ethernet can carry data and power over a suitable wired connection. DeyTech can review cable routes, switch port availability, power budgets and equipment locations. Existing cabling should be assessed before assuming it can support a new system.
Discuss how many cameras record, recording settings, available storage and how long footage is needed. Confirm camera and network video recorder compatibility, playback access and the process for exporting a useful clip. Recording duration depends on the agreed setup.
Plan named user access, account protection and the connection used for viewing away from the site. Review camera network separation and internet access with the rest of the network. Convenient viewing should not mean sharing one unrestricted account.
UPGRADES AND TROUBLESHOOTING
An unreliable picture may come from a camera, cable, power issue, recorder setting or network change. Knowing when the symptom started helps narrow the work.
Share equipment models if known, the affected camera locations and whether the issue involves live viewing, recorded footage or remote access. Keep passwords and footage containing personal information out of the inquiry form.
Some projects need selected camera replacements; others need recording or network changes first. We can assess compatibility, identify dependencies and agree what to reuse. After implementation, check intended views, playback and authorized access with the people who will use them.
